Suzanne’s Presentation Provided Me With a Feeling of Hope For Senior Care

I first met Suzanne Cavanagh after hearing her speak in Eugene at a Senior Provider Information Network (SPIN) meeting. Her presentation on the benefits of lighting, and the research she presented to support her claims, was not only fascinating but also inspiring. In a world with a growing population of seniors who are often homebound and spend most of their time indoors, Suzanne’s presentation provided me with a feeling of hope for senior care looking forward.

I invited Suzanne to speak at Town Hall at our senior living community. The residents were intrigued, and they asked many questions. Following the presentation, there was a buzz throughout the community. Many of our residents made a deliberate effort to go outside into the daylight following Suzanne’s presentation the next day, and they discussed the variations in lighting and bulbs with each other, to improve their health and wellbeing.

Everyone was impressed with the information and Suzanne’s presentation. Additionally, I invited her to speak at our monthly Dementia Support Group to explain the benefits of proper lighting to the caregivers of loved ones suffering from dementia.

I would recommend Suzanne’s services to anyone, and I encourage everyone interested to contact Suzanne and invite her to make a presentation. The information she presents is life changing.

Suzanne Cavanagh spoke at the Oregon Senior Referral Agency Association conference in November 2019. She had a hands on demonstration of vision issues that our senior clients experience that was very enlightening. She talked about the importance of different types of lighting and how it can affect senior communities. She showed us how lighting is different and explained why it’s so important to the whole body. She was a very good speaker and got very high scores in the attendee evaluation.

"We recently had the opportunity to work with Century on a lighting upgrade at Willamette Christian Center in the Lobby. The church had 145 recessed can fixtures and a total of about 9,000 watts. Even with that many lights, it was dark and dreary, especially on cloudy days.
Century replaced all lights with LEDs, reduced the overall wattage to about 1,500 watts and now the Lobby is bright and cheery.
